Ebell Wine & Dine explores the wines of California vs Italy

The wine pairing dinners designed and produced by the Ebell Wine & Dine Committee are a perfected example of the social, philanthropic, and educational endeavors on which the Ebell club was founded.  The dinners always sell out quickly, and this recent event was no exception. The Committee begins with a concept and brings together the talents of Ebell Executive Chef Louis Pechan with wine expert Chris Giordana from Wine Warehouse to design an exclusive culinary experience.



The theme for this dinner was a celebration of the rich, wonderful lifestyle and attitude toward food, wine, friends and family that exists in Italy and so lovingly replicated here in Santa Barbara County with the production of wines by Palmina winery in the style of Northern Italian varietals. Each course featured a wine from Palmina winery and one from Italy, complementing the flavors on the plate and enhancing each bite.  As explained by Executive Chef Louis Pechan at the start of the dinner, “In designing the menu, the essential approach was to allow the wine to complete the dish.”  Palmina’s focus is to craft wine expressly made to complement and enhance food, paralleling the beliefs of their colleagues in Italy. By all accounts, this mission was accomplished exquisitely.
