Women, Wine and Dinner, and a final farewell to Chef Louis

September’s Wine & Dine dinner featured selection from women wine makers. Sharing their artistry, knowledge and legacy with guests, course by course, this unique presentation was made all the more memorable by the fact that this would be Chef Louis Pechan‘s final Wine & Dine presentation as Executive Chef of the Ebell of Los Angeles.

The pre-dinner reception featured a 2014 Bortolomiol Finlandia Rose Brut, offered by the Bortolomiol sister (Elena, Elvira, Luisa, and Giuliana) and a 2015 Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc, presented by Kim Stare Wallace, President of Dry Creek Vineyard. The selections paired wonderfully with tray passed selections of Baby corn with Midnight Moon and Chili Negro, Stuffed Armenian Sweet Peppers, Creamed Turnip with Red Amaranth, and Red Champion Radish with Butter and Duck Prosciutto.

Domaine Drouhin Arthur Chardonnay (2014) (presented by winemaker Veronique Drouhin) and Nickel & Nickel Truchard Vineyard Chardonnay (2014) (presented by winemaker Darice Spinelli) were selected for the First Course of Summer Shelling Bean and Root Vegetable Fondue with Mushroom and Guanciale.

The Second Course of Cascade Creek Leg of Lamb with Purple Wax Beans and Jerusalem Artichoke was presented alongside three offerings: a 2010 Curran Tempranillo Santa Ynez Valley (Kris Curran, winemaker), 2013 Gallo Signature Series Napa Cabernet (Gina Gallo, winemaker), and 2012 Heitz Ink Grade Zinfandel (Kathleen Heitz, COO & President of Heitz Wine Cellars.)

The final Dessert Course of Summer Blush Nectarine Cheesecake with Rye Brittle and Honeycomb was served with Quady Essensia, presented by Laurel Quady.
